Late eighties; on the desk, Ancient Greek and Latin books next to fashion magazines. It's the beginning of a passion that has accompanied Maria Cristina ever since.
After finishing her studies, with a degree in Political Science and a Masters Course with Polimoda, she's lucky enough to gain professional experience in some of the top international tech and fashion companies. This experience gives her a chance to delve deeper into the fashion world and convinces her to realize her dream to start her own brand. The Durval brand was launched in Florence in 2011, a city from which she wants to absorb its best qualities: authenticity, quality and style.
« For my Collections, I wanted to create models with a timeless mood and new freshness and contemporaneity, combined in the choice of materials and color-matching. I'd define them as easy bon ton, classic pieces revisited whose simplicity of shape makes them universal and easily matching any outfit.
My goal is to create high-quality products, which is why I rely on artisans with proven experience, and rigorously Italian.
Inspiration comes from accessories in mom's closet, those you think you will never want to long for, too busy following teenage fads.
Only with a mature style can one cherish the modernity of a classic piece. I wanted to create the accessories I've always looked for and never found, where linearity and simplicity aren't so obvious.
I imagine my client as the girl who borrows her mother's bag to go out. »
